Brain Fog - Knock, Knock. Who's there?

Brain fog can be mild to severe, and even devastating, for so many. Brain fog can get in the way of work, relationships, everyday life, and can cause someone to question themselves and lose their confidence. Brain fog becomes so extreme for some, that they are unable to keep their jobs, sustain relationships, or even get out of bed. 

Brain fog is often dismissed as a mild symptom, laziness, or the result of a late night out, but in truth, brain fog can be a debilitating condition, and needs to be taken seriously. The first step to healing brain fog is understanding its true cause. 

True Causes of Brain Fog

The two main causes of brain fog are viruses and toxic heavy metals in the body. While you can have viruses in the body without toxic heavy metals, and vice versa, most people with brain fog are dealing with both.

Viruses, such as Epstein-Barr, are present in the liver and feed off foods they like. Medical research and science is unaware that viruses need to eat to survive, and that they enjoy certain foods we eat, such as eggs, gluten, and dairy, and toxins we have in our bodies, such as toxic heavy metals, pesticides, and fungicides. After viruses eat problematic foods and toxins, these viruses need to eliminate, and the byproduct and discharge the virus eliminates, is what I have termed viral neurotoxins. Once a virus eliminates a neurotoxin, it then makes its way into the bloodstream and up to the brain. All the neurons in the brain are highly sensitive and allergic to neurotoxins; when neurotoxins enter the brain, they weaken neurons, and can short-circuit neurotransmitters, leading to brain fog symptoms.

Another cause of brain fog is toxic heavy metals in the body, such as mercury, aluminum, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, copper, and lead. Not only do these heavy metals feed viruses in the liver, as I mentioned above, but they make their way to the brain, and get trapped in the brain tissue. When heavy metals get trapped in the brain tissue, they start to oxidize, rust, and corrode inside your brain. This corrosion starts to spread into other tissue in the brain, and can worsen brain fog as the years go by, potentially resulting in impaired memory. 

Healing Tools

The first step to getting rid of brain fog is to remove toxic heavy metals, such as mercury, aluminum, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, copper, and lead, from the body. The best tools for removing these metals are spirulina, barley grass juice powder, wild blueberries, cilantro, and Atlantic dulse. To get to the deep metals in the brain and liver, it’s best to combine all five of the wild food and herbs outlined above; if you cannot access all five of these ingredients, focus on incorporating at least three of the five, which can be very helpful. When we combine these five ingredients, they work together to safely dislodge and take toxic heavy metals out of the liver, brain, blood, and tissue. An important step in healing brain fog is to work on killing off viruses in the body. In addition to brain fog, if you suffer with any symptom or condition including fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, tendinitis, lupus, Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Lyme disease, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, mysterious migraines, tingles and numbness, eye floaters, aches and pains, fatigue, or anxiety, these are all the result of viruses in the body, such as Epstein-Barr. To begin removing viruses from your body, a good place to start is to remove their favorite foods, which include: eggs, dairy products such as milk, cheese, and butter, and gluten. When viruses and pathogens in the body consume these foods, they get stronger, symptoms and conditions can worsen, and brain fog sticks around.

Celery juice is one of the best weapons for combatting brain fog. Not only is celery juice a complete electrolyte, which is critical for the brain and body, but it is an antiviral too, and can help knock out viruses in the liver that are contributing to brain fog. Celery juice is herbal medicine, and consuming sixteen to thirty-two ounces of celery juice every morning can help move the needle when you’re suffering with brain fog. If you’re new to celery juice, feel free to start with four ounces and work your way to sixteen or thirty-two ounces a day.

Lowering the amount of fats in your diet is another important tool in healing. Consuming a diet high in fat, thickens your blood and can make it so viruses, heavy metals, and other toxins are unable to be cleansed from the liver and body, perpetuating your brain fog. Radical fats also stop critically needed glucose from entering your brain. Why do you need glucose to enter your brain? Glucose, which is sugar, is one of the most important parts of healing brain fog! The brain runs on glucose, and for that reason, it is critical you are consuming enough. The best way to increase glucose is to bring fruit, potatoes, winter squash, and sweet potatoes into your diet. When used properly, these foods can be incredible healing tools, and are imperative for eliminating brain fog. While you are bringing in these healing foods, consider reducing foods high in fat, such as meat, chicken, fish, nuts, nut butters, seeds, coconut oil, avocado, oils, and soy; keep these foods to once per day, versus two or three times a day. It’s best to avoid pork all together. 

Incorporating more healing herbs, leafy greens, and fruits, such as parsley, sage, onions, kiwi, tangerines, and butter leaf lettuce, into your diet, can help keep balance in the body as you work to rid the body and bloodstream of metals and viruses. Ingredients:

  • 4-6 kale stems, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger

  • 2 cups hot water
  • Squeeze of lemon

Directions:

Mix chopped kale stems, freshly grated ginger, honey, and lemon. Add 2 cups of hot water and stir well. Allow the water to steep for at least 15 minutes and then strain. Consume within one hour for quick brain fog relief.
